Premiership champions Saracens received a welcome boost this week with the news that three of their key players had signed new deals at the club.

Former England captain Steve Borthwick joined back row forward Kelly Brown and scrum-half Neil de Kock in signing on the dotted line and had no hesitation in doing so, telling the club’s website “There is a fantastic group of people who work hard for each other.

“People say Saracens are a special club, and they are right in so many ways.”

Brown is about to begin his sixth season with the club based at Vicarage Road and he also had no queries over extending his stay, saying “I’ve never been happier. Last season was fantastic but everyone understands we need to work twice as hard to retain the title.”

Saracens have also completed the signing of 19-year old scrum-half Ben Spencer from Cambridge after impressing the coaching staff during pre-season.
