New Zealand hoping for 10th Tri-Nations crown

Clash of the Titans takes place this weekend

South Africa v Australia

The build up to the new season is still taking place and there isn’t a great deal going on in the world of rugby this weekend.

The major fixture this weekend is the Tri-Nations encounter between South Africa and New Zealand. The Kiwis must be favourites going into this fixture as they look for a 10th Tri-Nations title, however, it’s never easy to go and win in the Springboks own back yard.

Expect a close game but if I was going to have a punt, I’d be backing the All Blacks as they look a formidable opponent at present and must be favourites in every game they play at the moment. I’ll also be looking to back them for next year’s World Cup, especially as it’s in New Zealand.

Elsewhere, the Scottish Hydro E league is underway and there are fixtures in Division One and Division Two this weekend. In Division One, Dundee HSFP meet Stirling County, Glasgow Hawks play West of Scotland, Hawick entertain Ayr, Heriots Rugby Club play Watsonians, Melrose host Currie and Boroughmuir travel to Selkirk.

In Division Two the fixtures are: Aberdeen GSFP v Edinburgh Acads, Biggar v Hillhead/Jordanhill, Falkirk v Stewarts Melville FP, GHA v Jed-Forest, Gala v Kelso and Kirkcaldy v Peebles.
