England scrumhalf Care fined by club after arrest

Updated: December 14, 2011, 07:34

LONDON(AP) England scrumhalf Danny Care has been fined by club side Harlequins following his arrest for being drunk and disorderly.

The 24-year-old Care was held early Saturday after drinking with his Harlequins teammates shortly after a 21-10 loss to Toulouse in the Heineken Cup.

Care was released by police after paying a fine of 80 pounds ($125).

Harlequins says "there had been no complaint made to the club regarding the incident, but the club has a strict code of conduct in place and, in accordance with that, the player was fined.''

The undisclosed amount will go to the teenager cancer unit at University College Hospital in London.

Care said on the Harlequins website: "I totally accept the police and club fines.''
