Delve to share Rebels vice-captaincy in Super 15

Updated: February 14, 2012, 18:23

MELBOURNE, Australia(AP) The Melbourne Rebels have announced that Wales No. 8 Gareth Delve will share the vice-captaincy for the upcoming Super 15 season alongside developing leader Hugh Pyle.

Delve, vice-captain in the Rebel's inaugural season last year, became the first non-Australian captain of a Super rugby side when he stepped in for skipper Stirling Mortlock for the round-nine match against Otago Highlanders.

The Rebels said Wednesday the decision to opt for a joint vice-captaincy was part of the club's leadership succession plan.

Delve, who previously captained Gloucester in the English premiership, says "I look forward to guiding Hugh while allowing him to develop his own style of leadership.''
