England scrumhalf Wigglesworth to miss Six Nations

Updated: October 26, 2011, 11:21

LONDON(AP) England scrumhalf Richard Wigglesworth will miss the Six Nations after being ruled out for the rest of the season because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Wigglesworth hurt his knee Sunday making a tackle in his first game for Saracens since returning from the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

He told his Twitter followers that he was having surgery Wednesday.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall says "it's a big blow for Wiggy who ... has worked so hard in the past 18 months to get himself back in the England side.''

Wigglesworth started England's opening World Cup win over Argentina. He was a replacement in another two group games and the 19-12 quarterfinal defeat to France.
