England to have interim coach for 6 Nations

Updated: November 30, 2011, 12:57

LONDON(AP) The English Rugby Football Union will appoint an interim coach to lead the national team into next year's Six Nations while it searches for a permanent replacement for Martin Johnson.

The RFU says Johnson's successor will be named in time for the tour of South Africa in June, and will report directly to the governing body's new chief executive, who will be appointed by the turn of the year.

The interim coach will be hired before England's Six Nations squad is named on Jan. 11.

Rob Andrew, the RFU's elite rugby director overseeing all of the country's national teams, is to be appointed as the professional rugby director, responsible for all the national teams except the senior men's side.
