Training Safely
It is important to remember when you are training to follow all the safety guidelines to avoid injuring yourself and your team-mates.
For example, when you are using tackle shields, make sure you hold the straps in your hands, rather than wrapping them around your wrist.
And stand with your feet astride - so your front foot is clear of your back foot.
When you are making the tackle, make sure your make contact with your shoulder with your head to the side of the shield.
Wrap your arms around the shield at hip height.
Always train with people who are roughly your size and ability.
It's no fun training with players who are much bigger and better than you are.
Always ensure there is an adult nearby to oversee the training and provide any help if needed.
