2012 Dave Strettle

David Strettle was born in Cheshire, England on 23rd July 1983. He began playing rugby league when he was just five year old. David attended Lymm High School and played for Lymm RFC, before going on to study at Sheffield Hallam University where he obtained a Sport Science degree. He had football trials for Manchester City, Everton and Liverpool.

David began his career playing for Rotherham Titans. In 2006, he joined the Harlequins from Rotherham, and made his club debut in the pre-season friendly against ASM Clermont on 6 August of that year.

In May 2007, David was named as the Professional Rugby Player's Association Young Player of the Season. He was also named in the Sky Sports Dream Team for the Guinness Premiership season 2006–07.
In the same year he was named in the England Rugby squad to tour South Africa. Unfortunately, he came down with food poising along with other members of the squad, which prevented him from starting in England's 58–10 record defeat to South Africa.

In 2008, David was called up to the England squad for the 2008 Six Nations Championship. He started the game against Wales but was withdrawn early following a metatarsal break, which ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.

In 2010, David signed for Saracens in time for the 2010-11 season and made his debut on 12 September again Sale Sharks.

David created IRB Sevens history when scoring five first-half tries on his debut against Papua New Guinea. In the winter of 2010 he bagged a try in both Saxons’ matches against Ireland A and Italy A.
