2011 James Grindal

James Grindal was born in Nuneaton, England on 18th August 1980. He attended King Henry VIII School in Coventry where he partnered Andy Goode, who he also partnered with at Leicester Tigers some years later.

He has been capped by England at Under-21 level.

James began his professional career at Coventry R.F.C. in 1999 before joining Leicester Tigers in 2002.

He made his Tigers debut as a 19-year-old and was involved in the first-team squad during three Premiership title wins and two Heineken Cups before joining Newcastle Falcons in 2002.

At Newcastle, James has been partnered with World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson, an England rival of his former half-back partner, Andy Goode. He was in the winning team of the 2004 Powergen Cup defeating the Sale Sharks.

He was called into the England Saxons side that defeated Ireland A on 1 February 2008.

On 25 June 2009 it was confirmed that he would return to his former club from the Newcastle Falcons to replace the departing Julien Dupuy.
