2012 Martin Castrogiovanni
Martín Castrogiovanni was born in Paraná, Argentina on 21st October 1981.
Martin played his early rugby with Atletico Estudiantes in Argentina after turning his back on basketball, after punching a referee during a match. He was an Argentina Under-19 and Under-21 international. In 2001, Castro moved to Italy to pursue a professional rugby career in Europe. He played for Ghial Calvisano, with whom he won the Italian championship in 2005.
In 2006, Martin joined Lecister Tigers after winning more than 60 caps for Ghial Calvisano. He made his Tigers debut against Sale Sharks on the opening day of the 2006/07 season. Following a successful 2006-07 season Martin was named Guinness Premiership player of the season. He wears the name "Castro" on his shirt rather than "Castrogiovanni"
Marton started the Heineken Cup Final against Leinster in May 2009 after injury ruled him out of the Guinness Premiership Final, and picked up his third Premiership winner's medal in 2010 after starting the final win over Saracens.
Martin made his international debut for the Italian national team on 8th June 2002, during the tour against the All Blacks, and since, has become a regular in the national side. He played every game of Italy's 2004 Six Nations campaign and was elected man of the match in the victory against Scotland.
One of his most famous moments came in 2004, when during the summer tour against Japan he scored a hat-trick, a rarity for a prop forward. During the 2008 Six Nations Championship, Martin was Italy's top try scorer.
